When are grades updated?
Good question and difficult to answer. The best answer I can give is "It depends." I have 4 classes, each of them with a lab going on at some particular time in the chapter. These labs might take 3 days, others will take a week. Longer labs take longer to grade and result in a longer grade update time. In general grades are updated every week (usually every Wednesday).
How can my student raise their grade?
There are a number of ways to improve your students grade. The easiest way is to have a conversation with your student on the importance of keeping up in their school work and taking it seriously. Here is an article with some tips on the matter.
Another way is to have them do a current event every Thursday. The current event needs to be a news article printed from a reliable source (such as CNN, NBC, etc.) and relate to what we are talking about in class. If they print and write a 1 paragraph summary on it they'll get 1 point, if they print and talk about the article in class they'll get 2 points, if they print the article and do a skit they'll get 3 points.
The final way to improve grades is to have your student attend my homework help sometime between 3:30-5:30 on Wednesdays. This will allow them as much time as they need to get some one on one help and their questions answered.

What will you be doing next week?
Another great question with yet another vague answer. The truth is that it depends on the class. Some lessons go faster, others slower depending on the group dynamics, level of understanding and work ethic. I have the general pacing for each week in each class under the Classes >> Calendar tab but it's not in stone. In general I'll follow it but there are times that it will change.
My students forgot their book/assignment at school, now what?
Have no fear, the internet is here! Just go to Classes >> their class >> calendar >> whatever they are missing. If its an orange link you can download it to view or print. They should also have access to all their assignments via Schoology.
